DOLPHINS AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA: |
New program jointly presented by DRC and Mote Marine Laboratory
for Middle School and High School Students! |
 |
Dolphins and the Deep Blue Sea provides students with five days of in-depth fun and adventure exploring the Florida Keys marine life and natural eco-systems. Meals and lodging are included with groups splitting their time between Dolphin Research Center on Grassy Key and Mote Marine Tropical Research Laboratory on Summerland Key.
While participating in the Mote Marine Laboratory program, students will learn about the nature of the Keys in general, including the mangroves, beaches, rocky shorelines, hardwood hammocks and the coral reef. They'll learn how the ecosystems interact by snorkeling, wading and clambering through the different habitats. It's a fun way to explore a beautiful part of the world! |

 |
At Dolphin Research Center, students will observe our resident family of dolphins and sea lions in daily behavior sessions and take part in discussions and activities on such topics as Dolphin Biology, Communication, Acoustics, Ocean Conservation and more. They'll learn how we 'communicate' with dolphins using hand signals, and then go down on the dock for a fun-filled session where they give the signals to the dolphins.
Program adventure includes trips to the Turtle Hospital, Bahia Honda State Park, Crane Point Hammock and snorkeling excursion to the reef.
Cost of Five Day Program: $440.00 per person*. Cost includes: Meals, four nights lodging, and all activities.
For more information or to make a reservation, contact the Education Department.
For additional information about the Mote education program, click here to visit their website or email Dan Gallagher at dgallagher@mote.org.
*Cost is based on a minimum attendance of 10 people. Groups with more than 15 people will be divided into two smaller groups. One group will begin their adventure at Mote while the other travels to DRC. Mid-way through the week, the groups switch locations. Everybody enjoys the full experience!
